About the Ombudsman
Joanna Marcinkowska is a trained legal counsel. She studied law at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and then she was a trainee in the Warsaw Bar Association [Okręgowa Izba Radców Prawnych w Warszawie]. For several years, she has been associated with the railway market. She worked in the Office of Rail Transport as a legal counsel and was previously employed in a legal counsel office. She is highly experienced in resolving problems with both individual entities and operators.
Her professional interests have been focused on rail transport. So far, she has been involved in legal assistance in cases related to rail transport safety, passenger rights, interoperability of the railway system and regulation of the railway market.
She spends her free time on language learning. She has a good command of English and Spanish and is currently studying French. She is an organiser of meetings for Spanish-speaking people and helps children as a volunteer in a non-governmental organisation. She is interested in pre-war modernist architecture. She likes books, mountain hiking, and cross-country skiing.
